The Lazy Koala boutique hostel is a brand new hostel. It is a 3 minute tuk tuk ride to the Hikkaduwa town and beach and a 500 metre walk to beautiful swimmable beaches on either side of the hostel.

While we have facilitated a great social and fun atmosphere via the design and the hostel's social spaces like the brilliant rooftop terrace, chill out areas, and swimming pool for example, we want you our guests to create a fantastic social vibe - great fun, chilled atmosphere, respectful, a place where friendships are forged.

Hikkaduwa is a very popular tourist town boasting a beautiful stretch of golden beach, clear warm blue water, a great variety of restaurants (many specializing in seafood) and bars, and a party vibe. It is the perfect destination whether you are looking to just relax, enjoy the beach and watch the beautiful sunset, or take part in a plethora of water sports.

The Lazy Koala is owned and operated by two Sri Lankan-born Australians who have a passion for travel. We believe in providing guests a great experience and high quality accommodation at an affordable price. We have a fantastic bunch of people working very hard to make your stay at the Lazy Koala an enjoyable experience.
We strive to be environmentally responsible and resource-efficient in our operations. The hostel uses solar panels that generate over 80% of the electricity it needs.

Tastefully decorated, airy and bright atmosphere Rooms are squeaky clean and I love that it only takes a couple of steps to get to the beach.
The hostel has a relaxing atmosphere whether you go alone or with friends for some needed r&r
